Pregnancy Tea - Bulk Recipe & Benefits

Updated: Jun 4

My midwife with my 1st pregnancy gave me this tea blend recipe (first 4 ingredients) and also added in oat straw as well as alfalfa. For this pregnancy, I decided to add in chamomile (I discussed it with my current midwife first). I am a huge tea lover and started to brew this tea again for my current pregnancy, so I thought I would share.

This pregnancy tea blend is a great tea to drink during pregnancy, postpartum, and even while breastfeeding/chestfeeding. Its herbs are high in vitamins and minerals that help strengthen and tone your uterus, help with constipation, UTIs, leg cramps, and more. It helps to replenish nutrients during postpartum. Some of its herbs are considered galactagogues and help with milk production.

Here are some benefits of each ingredient:

Nettles - nutrient rich (iron, Vit A, C, D, K, & more), supports milk production, reduces bladder infections & helps with muscle pain & leg cramps

Red Raspberry Leaf - nutrient rich (potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, & zinc, Vit A, B, C, E, & more), tones uterus so contracts more effectively, can help shorten duration of labor, associated with lower complications, reduces risk of excessive bleeding, helps with milk production

Spearmint - helps with digestion & reduces nausea

Rose Hips - rich in Vit C & boosts immune system

Oat Straw - nutrient rich (Vit B, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, & more), tones uterus, helps with stress, exhaustion, depression, thyroid, blood pressure, & sleep/insomnia

Alfalfa - nutrient rich (iron, Vit A, B-6, E, D, K, biotin, folic acid, & more), helps with blood sugar, digestion, & intestinal flora, reduces risk of excessive bleeding, & helps with milk production

Chamomile - rich in calcium & magnesium, helps with digestion, soothes nausea, anxiety, & inflammation, & promotes sleep

Pregnancy Tea Bulk Recipe

  • 2 Cups Nettles

  • 2 Cups Red Raspberry Leaf

  • 2 Cups Spearmint

  • 2 Tbsp Crushed Rose Hips

  • 2 Cups Oat Straw

  • 2 Cups Alfalfa

  • 1/4-1/2 Cup Chamomile

Note: amounts of each ingredient can be modified or substituted to suit your preferences. There are many versions of this tea available premixed for you online. Some refer to it as NORA tea with Nettles, Oat Straw, Red Raspberry Leaf, & Alfalfa being the base ingredients.

Steeping

  1. Steep 4 Tbsp of Pregnancy Tea Blend in 1 L boiling water for 30 minutes to 2 hours.

  2. Once it cools down, you can store in your fridge & drink as desired

Note: I use a large 2 L Mason Jar meant to steep tea & coffee. After it steeps, I fill the rest of the mason jar to the top with room temp water. Can drink 1-3 cups/day.

I also created a Instagram Post you can share here.

Disclaimer: Check with your provider first to make sure this tea is appropriate for you and when would be good to start drinking in your pregnancy, postpartum, or while breastfeeding/chestfeeding.
