HYGGE BIRTH SERVICES

I am passionate about supporting birthing peoples' right to autonomy & informed consent.​

Providing evidence-based information is a foundation of my support so my clients feel confident in their decisions.

Strives to assist & empower birthing people & their partners by providing physical, emotional, educational, & advocacy support before, during, after labor &/or postpartum period.  Making every effort to create an environment where clients feel safe, their decisions/concerns are respected, minimizing any risk of trauma or unsatisfactory birthing & postpartum experience. Ensuring excellent care by staying up to date on birthing topics & trainings on inclusivity & sensitivity regarding BIPOC, LGBTQ+, trauma, & loss.

Respect & Dignity – You are worthy of being treated with respect & dignity.  The perinatal period is a vulnerable & intimate time.  I vow to treat all my clients with the utmost dignity you are entitled to as a pregnant, laboring, & postpartum person.

Honesty & Transparency – Trust is not a right, it is earned.  I believe transparency & honesty are important for building & maintaining trust.  If I make a mistake, I will make any necessary corrections & apologize for any potential harm I caused.

Agency & Autonomy – Pregnancy & birth are normal, biological processes that generally proceed without the need for any or multiple interventions.  Nothing should be done to you without your full informed consent.  I will help to remind you of your preferences so you can feel confident in asserting your right to informed consent & refusal during pregnancy, birth, & postpartum.

Advocacy – I will help advocate for your preferences & facilitate communication between you & your providers to work together to ensure you get the respectful medical care you deserve.  My pledge is to honor & support your decisions, while providing you with evidence-based information to assist you in making informed decisions for you & your baby.

Collaboration & Communication – I will provide unbiased, evidence-based information, education, & support.  We will work together to create a birth plan you can use as a roadmap with your providers.  If needed, we will process any past stress, anxiety, or trauma to help minimize the chance of further trauma during your birth experience.  Communication is a cornerstone of trust building.  I will contact you by your preferred method & frequency as well as respond to you in a timely manner.

Compassion & Judgement-Free – I promise to provide care that is free from stigma so you feel safe, seen, & heard.  I will work with you to provide customized care that meets your needs.  If either of us feels we are not a great match, I honor that & will assist you in finding your best doula match.  I believe it is essential to have a doula you feel 100% comfortable with inviting into your birth space.
