UPDATE: Switching to a Zoom format for this meetup due to family illness. Look for link below.
Exciting News!!! I am launching a new group for birthworkers called Birth Connection where we can get together, connect, & explore topics for birthworkers.
Who: Birthworkers
What: Birth Connection
When: 2nd Thursday of the Month @ 5:30pm
Why: Join us for opportunities to connect within the Tucson birth community & dive deep into topics for Birthworkers related to all things reproduction, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, etc.
This will not be limited to just books but we will also incorporate articles, podcasts, & even documentaries. It is a way for us to continue learning as a community and help each other grow so we can support our clients the best we can.
If a particular book or topic is large, we may take a few months to cover it so people do not feel rushed & have time to get through it without feeling like they have to get it done within a single month.
This is intended to be an inclusive & safe space where we will talk about difficult topics that push us and are inclusive of the entire birth community.
The first book & topic will be Birthing Liberation: How Reproductive Justice Can Set Us Free by Sabia Wade (you can check her out on IG: @sabiawade or her website).
This meeting will take place Thursday, November 9th @ 5:30pm
You can get the book:
On Amazon as a hardcopy, kindle, or audible book.
The Pima County Public Library has 4 physical copies.
Via eBook on the Hoopla app if you have a Pima County Public Library card.
In addition to or instead of reading the book, you can also check out:
The podcast Sabia Wade did with Evidence Based Birth (EBB) on YouTube, Spotify, or their Blog Post.
EBB also has some very informative blog posts on their website for Birth Justice & Anti-Racism in Birthwork.
If you are interested in joining us, please email me & I will provide you my address.
