December Birth Connection

Riding on a high after the very first Birth Connection this past Thursday! We had such a wonderful discussion about the book, Birthing Liberation, and it got us pumped to get more active in Tucson's birth community, make sure we know what resources are already out there (locally & nationally) for BIPOC birthing people, and see how we could amplify and collaborate with them. There is so much we can accomplish when working together and collaboratively. Come join us for the next Birth Connection meetup!

Who: Birthworkers

What: Birthing Liberation by Sabia Wade / Anti-Racism in Birth Work

When: December 14th @ 5:30pm

Where: My Home (subscribe to newsletter or email me for address)

Why: Join us for opportunities to connect within the Tucson birth community & dive deep into topics for Birthworkers related to all things reproduction, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, etc.

Although this is not a large book, its topics are pretty heavy, therefore, we agreed as a group to continue with (re)reading Birthing Liberation and the topic of Anti-Racism in Birth Work. For those that already finished the book, you can choose to re-read it and/or look below for additional ways to continue learning about anti-racism in birth work. I encourage everyone to try to look at one of the additional resources below to further our discussion for December's meetup. However, even if someone does not finish the book or get through the additional materials, you are still more than welcome to come. This is a fantastic way to connect with fellow Tucson birthworkers and learn from each other.

Note: This is intended to be an inclusive & safe space where we will talk about difficult topics that push us and are inclusive of the entire birth community. Please be mindful of your words and actions and always be respectful of others.

The book & topic will be Birthing Liberation: How Reproductive Justice Can Set Us Free by Sabia Wade (you can check her out on IG: @sabiawade or her website).
